Admission is on - going into the Officer in charge of a watch Preparatory Classes:
1.0 Programs on offer
i) Officer in charge of a navigational watch Preparatory class
ii) Officer in charge of an engineering watch Preparatory class

2.0 Entry requirements

3.0 Methods of application
Procedures:
1) Pay an application fee of N5, 000.00 into the Fidelity bank account given below and obtain evidence of payment.
2) Visit Charkin Maritime Academy main Campus at:
Km 4, East - West road (Near Obirikwere / Airport by- pass flyover),
Ozuoba, Port Harcourt,
Rivers State,
with evidence of payment and copy of “Eligibility” document
3) Change evidence of payment to receipt at the Bursary
4) Present receipt of payment and copy of “Eligibility” to the Front Desk Officer at the main gate and obtain the CoC Application Form
5) Follow instructions and fill the Form and submit same to the Desk Officer for registration

1. REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY
a) Not less than 18 years of age
b) Evidence of approved training: National Diploma in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering; 1st Degree in Nautical science
or Marine Engineering with Not less than twelve (12) months sea - time onboard an approved vessel
or 36 months sea-time for those with Associate Certificate in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering.
c) The four (4) basic mandatory courses.
d) Medical certificate of fitness from any of the accredited hospitals nation - wide
e) Seaman’s Discharge book
f) Registration for the Seafarer’s Identification Document
g) Yellow fever certificate

i) However before releasing the Certificate of Competency to the successful candidate, NIMASA will demand to see the following (advanced) courses certificates, namely;
a. Basic training for oil and chemical tanker cargo operation
b. Bridge or Engine room resource management
c. Medical first aid
d. Security awareness
Any candidate who meets the requirements outlined in 1. a) - h) above
can proceed to NIMASA’s office in Lagos to obtain eligibility to register for C. O. C. preparatory courses
2. DURATION OF COURSE:
Six (6) months
3. COST ESTIMATE:
Tuition fee per candidate = N350,000
4. ACCOMMODATION AND FEEDING:
Each candidate will make arrangement for his/her accommodation and feeding.
5. DATE OF COMMENCEMENT:
Lectures will commence on the 14th June 2021 and end on 26th November 2021.
